"There was a party at Roddy (Bottum, Faith No More keyboardist)'s mansion

had been given the fish (which she admits to having named 'Linear Soul Child')
from a person at that poetry reading, and brought it to Roddy's party. That's
the last time I ever saw him."

She faced Beck.

* (1996)
During Tori Amos's RAINN (Rape Abuse and Incest National Network) benefit
concert (1996?) several celebrities did promotional "commercials" for
RAINN. Bjork was one of them. A microwave clock was shown (2 minutes),
and Bjork said something to the effect of, "In the time it takes you to
cook a meal, one woman in America is forcibly raped...if you need help,
call rrrrrainn at 1-800-656-HOPE..." [Thanks to Tim who posted this on BEP in March 2000!]

Here in Argentina the only commercial that I remember with bjork music
is an "anais anais" one, (parfum) a nice one, with IOSQ initial
bars, only a couple of seconds without voice. (Thanks Paulo!)
* (1999-2000)
Bjork's music to 'Human Behaviour' (Or an exact rip-off of it) can
be heard in tv commercials (late 1999-2000) for Compaqs 'Ipaq' computer.
*
From Tom; The TV show 'Dateline' (on NBC)used the Sugarcubes 'HIT' as
background music during a brief story. This is a national news program in the U.S.!
*
"Insomniac Music Theater" on VH1 has music at the
beginning of each segment (where they show the title)

* (2000)
A commercial for an American Express card shows 2 prong type deal-ies,
like the ones holding the 2 bjorkbots in the video, are holding and
bending an american express card. It is VERY similar to Bjork's All is Full of Love video.
* (2001)
A commercial for a car, I dont recall which, shows 2 prong deal-ies
assembling the car. Also similar to All is Full of Love.
Both of these commerical have white futirustic feels to them. (Thanks kenny!)
As Bobby June reports: An American Express card advert between two extremely graceful robotic
arms. It was being worked on and contorted just as both Bj=F6rks were being
worked on in the video. Probes, rotating robotic arms and spinning manipulators
portrayed in a lackluster mimic of the original. There was even a lower anal/vaginal
probe on the left of the Amex card just as in the video.
*
MTV features a bit of the All is Full of Love video in a montage of just
random MTV-ness. Go figure, they enver show it but they'll put it on a commercial.
* (2001)
Thanks to Noe: On MTV Latin they have some MTV promos that use
Bjork either as background music or just as something cool to look at.
Theres a one minute compilation of sci-fi music videos (Marilyn Manson's
Tourniquet, Tool, and similars) and they show a lot of AIFOL clips and at
the end of it it appears "ARTificial... MTV".
Theres another one of two guys in a flower field (just standing there, doing
nothing else) and the street/folkloric noises of Aeroplane playing in the
background music.
Another one is a compilation of people with worried faces and they show
clips of Bachelorette and Play Dead.
*
There is a commercial on American tv that is almost a total rip off of
Joga. It is a tampon commercial (ob), and the beginning is just like the
beginning of Joga. How the camera is spinning around her.
*
All Is Full Of Love was played on a commercial. This thing called
Channel One news is like a teenager news cast i guess its suppose
to make us care about stupid issues or something i don't know. But
there was an anti-rasism thing.
* (2002)
There is a new TV series in the Netherlands.
In the ads for the series they use the intro of Play Dead; the series
is an ER-kind of soapserie about a hospital. [Thanks De Lytse Jehannes]
* (2002)
Gevalia Coffee commercial
on Danish and Swedeish tv. There's a big poster inside an apartment of a
young man who invites his neigbourgirl over for coffee. The poster is a
blow up of a time out magazine cover with björk on the cover, it must be
from one of the old issues (Click on picture for larger screengrabs).
[Thanks to Shara & Lunargirl]
* (2002)
Bjork's song Alarm Call was sampled on Trio's commercial 'hot summer nights'.
If anybody has ANY information, please
Mail Me! Thanks.

* Bjork was mentioned in the independent "comic" STRANGERS IN PARADISE. It
was a rather amusing cameo. Also there were other little mentions that included word-play using the
titles of her songs.
* DC/Vertigo's TRANSMETROPOLITAN #17 plugs The Sugarcubes:
This occured in the January, 1999 issue of the DC/Vertigo comic TRANSMETROPOLITAN, (says
"Four More Beers!" on the cover) Creator Warren Ellis in a box marked INSTRUCTIONS on the last
page:

(Vintage, 1993-see quotation at the beginning of this letter column).
The recommended CD is "The Sugarcubes: A Collection" by The Sugarcubes
(1998), the recommended graphic novel is DEEP CITY by Carlos Sampaya and
C. Solano Lopez (Catalan Communications 1986) and the recommended

In Dan Savage's book, "The Kid", he has a big fight with his boyfriend Terry because Terry insists
on listening to Bjork in the car. It seems that Dan doesn't like Bjork too much.
*
Bjork appears twice in the comic series, Kingdom Come, by DC. If you look
closely at one of the illustrations, you can see the poster of Bjork's Debut
on a wall. Bjork is also shown cheering in an audience.
